Aliant becomes one of the fastest Internet service providers (DSL) in Canada
Aliant High-Speed Ultra now up to three times faster than Aliant High-Speed
Atlantic Canada –
Aliant, Atlantic Canada’s leading information and communications technology provider, today announced that Aliant High-Speed Ultra now offers speeds up to three times faster than Aliant High-Speed. The enhanced broadband service provides our customers more speed, choice and value than ever before and is available across Atlantic Canada.
“Aliant High-Speed Ultra delivers one of the fastest Internet speeds (DSL) in Canada and is part of our commitment to be our customers’ first choice for all their information, communications and entertainment needs,” says Heather Tulk, VP, Broadband and Marketing, Aliant.
The enhanced broadband service is ideal for customers who are creating a home computer network with two or more PCs or need enhanced speed for downloading files, media-on-demand applications (i.e. music, news) or gaming. Aliant Anti-Spyware and one additional enhanced service such as Aliant Anti-Virus, Personal Firewall or Parental Control are also offered with the service.
Aliant High-Speed and Aliant High-Speed Ultra are delivered using a dedicated, unshared connection from a customer's premise to our switching facilities, providing the speed, security and consistency broadband customers rely upon every day, while not tying up their phone line. Access speeds have increased - from three megabits per second (Mbps) to up to five Mbps downstream (i.e. downloading files) - while the same fast upstream (i.e. uploading files) rate remains at 640 Kbps.
Aliant High-Speed Ultra customers also have access to enhanced features and services through Aliant.net
like online piano lessons, news-on-demand, downloadable and streaming music files, video gaming, and online shopping and bill payment. Internet security services such as Aliant Anti-Virus, Aliant Personal Firewall, Aliant Parental Control, and Aliant Anti-Spyware are also available to customers on the website.
Aliant High-Speed Ultra, Aliant High-Speed, and Dial-up Internet customers are also eligible for Aliant’s new PC Purchase program. For as little as $59.95 per month (based on a three-year contract) customers will receive Aliant High-Speed Ultra and a high-performance PC system which they will own at the end of the contract. The online-ready computer system comes complete with ample memory (256 MB RAM), hard drive space (40 GB) and processor speed (2.4 GHz) in addition to a keyboard, CD-RW drive, speakers, 17-inch monitor, mouse and a limited warranty.
