Aliant expanding broadband network in Newfoundland and Labrador
Customers in Steady Brook and Humber Village to benefit from enhanced speed, security and reliability

Aliant, Atlantic Canada’s leading information and communications technology provider, today announced that its broadband service will be expanded to additional communities near Corner Brook - Steady Brook and Humber Village – by the end of this year.
“We are very pleased to introduce broadband service – Aliant High-Speed and Aliant High-Speed Ultra - to consumers and businesses in the area and we know they will benefit from the speed, security and reliability of our broadband network,” says Vic Simmons, Aliant Regional Manager, Western/Central NL. “Broadband services are available within a number of our value packages and allow customers to combine other services, like long distance and cellular, for great savings all on a single bill.”
This year Aliant is investing more than $63 million in the broadband network throughout Atlantic Canada. Over the past few years, Aliant has invested more than $300 million bringing broadband to Atlantic Canadians, and by the end of the year, over 79 per cent of homes and 84 per cent of businesses in Atlantic Canada will have access to Aliant’s broadband services.
Aliant High-Speed and Aliant High-Speed Ultra customers also have access to enhanced features and services through Aliant.net
like online piano lessons, news-on-demand, downloadable and streaming music files, video gaming, and online shopping and bill payment. Internet security services such as Aliant Anti-Virus, Aliant Personal Firewall, Aliant Parental Control, and Aliant Anti-Spyware are also available to customers on the website.
Aliant High-Speed, Aliant High-Speed Ultra and Dial-up Internet customers are also eligible for Aliant’s new PC Purchase program. For as little as $54.95 per month (based on a three-year contract) customers will receive Aliant High-Speed and a high-performance PC system which they will own at the end of the contract. The online-ready computer system comes complete with ample memory (256 MB RAM), hard drive space (40 GB) and processor speed (2.4 GHz) in addition to a keyboard, CD-RW drive, speakers, 17-inch monitor, mouse and a limited warranty.
