$180,000 Raised at the Aliant Walk for Kids Help Phone
Halifax, Nova Scotia
- On Sunday, May 1 walkers in communities across Atlantic Canada raised $180,000 for Kids Help Phone in the Aliant Walk for Kids Help Phone.
The Aliant Walk for Kids Help Phone is part of a national one-day fundraising event sponsored by Bell Canada.
“The funds raised by Canadians from coast to coast will allow us to continue to provide our professional counseling services so that young people can get the kind of help they want and need by phone or on the Web,” said Shelley Richardson, Atlantic Canada Regional Director, Kids Help Phone. “We are now counseling kids through two media – the phone and the Web - and the Bell Walk for Kids Help Phone has helped ensure that we can continue to be there for kids whenever, and however, they need us.”
As the volume of calls and Web postings continue to increase, so does the need to provide professional counseling 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“On behalf of Aliant and The Aliant Pioneer Volunteers, we were very pleased to contribute to Kids Help Phone and the thousands of kids who use their service every year,” said Gary Lund, Chief Technology Officer, Aliant. “We’re proud to know that our support will help ensure there is always someone on the other end of the phone or Internet when a child needs help.”
The sponsors for the 2005 Aliant Walk for Kids Help Phone are Aliant, CTV, Sympatico/MSN, BMO Financial Group, Campbell Company of Canada, Hilton Canada, Kellogg Canada Ltd., Nestlé Canada Inc., Parmalat Canada, Securicor and Unigistix.
The Aliant Walk for Kids Help Phone and The Bell Walk for Kids Help Phone take place in 40 communities across Canada.
