Aliant’s Glen LeBlanc recognized as one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40™
Halifax, NS -
Glen LeBlanc, Aliant's Vice-President of Finance and Controller, is being recognized as one of Canada's Top 40 Under 40™ in today’s edition of The Globe and Mail
Mr. LeBlanc was chosen as one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 from over 1,400 nominees based on his achievements in the areas of vision and leadership; innovation and achievement; impact; community involvement and contribution; and contribution to Aliant’s growth strategy. Mr. LeBlanc and 39 other business leaders will receive their award later today at a ceremony in Toronto.
Receiving this national recognition was due in large part to Mr. LeBlanc’s leadership style and vision, which has helped draw a roadmap for the continued success of both Aliant and the not-for-profit organizations and small businesses he works with. During his 12 years with Aliant, Mr. LeBlanc’s responsibilities have evolved considerably. He currently provides financial direction to Aliant’s executive team, and leads the company’s general accounting operations activities. Under his leadership, Mr. LeBlanc ensures the strictest accounting principles are adhered to while building strategic financial models for Aliant’s long-term success.
“At Aliant, our strength is our people. We are fortunate to benefit from the expertise and dedication of talented individuals like Glen within our leadership team. I am proud of his accomplishments, and of the passion he contributes not only to the communities we serve but to Aliant’s continued success,” said Jay Forbes, President and CEO, Aliant.
In addition to his efforts leading change through effective partnerships, operational excellence and employee enthusiasm, Mr. LeBlanc has also made important contributions to Nova Scotia’s not-for-profit and small business communities. He is involved in numerous community initiatives including his role on the board of directors for FEED NOVA SCOTIA. In 2004, he received UNICEF’s Champion for Children Award for outstanding community contribution, having served as the chair for the Chefs for UNICEF committee for the past four years.
"I am honoured to be recognized for the work that I do with these organizations," said Mr. LeBlanc. "It’s an absolute pleasure to be able to apply my energy to help families and young business entrepreneurs throughout Nova Scotia."
“Knowing you’ve had an impact on someone’s life is definitely more important than being recognized for it,” continued Mr. LeBlanc, concerning the prestige of this national award. “As a recognized corporate philanthropist, Aliant encourages us to take these initiatives on. The fact that this is something I enjoy doing, and to know my recognition can promote these not-for-profit and small business organizations, is an added bonus.”
In 1995, The Caldwell Partners, Canada’s most respected executive search firm, launched Canada's Top 40 Under 40™ with the goal to promote rising business leaders under the age of 40 as role models for a younger generation of Canadians.
Mr. LeBlanc is the fourth Aliant executive to receive this award, joining Jay Forbes, President and CEO, Heather Tulk, Vice-President of Broadband and Marketing, and Helena Cain, Vice-President of Enterprise and Business Sales.
