Bell Aliant announces Karen Sheriff as new President and CEO
HALIFAX, NS – Bell Aliant Regional Communications Income Fund1 (TSX: BA.UN) today announced that Karen Sheriff has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Bell Aliant, effective November 3, 2008.
Ms. Sheriff is currently Chief Operating Officer of Bell Aliant and will succeed Stephen Wetmore, who in July 2008 announced his intention to step down. Ms. Sheriff is a Director of Bell Aliant and has served in that capacity, and as a Director of its predecessor company, Aliant Inc., since 2004.

Ms. Sheriff became President, Small and Medium Business, Bell Canada in June 2003. She joined Bell Canada in May 1999 as Senior Vice President of Product Management & Development and later became Chief Marketing Officer. Prior to this, she ran Corporate Marketing and Branding at Ameritech Inc.
Ms. Sheriff has been recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women three times and in 2007, she was named to the Women’s Executive Network (WXN) Top 100 Women Hall of Fame.
